Strengthening value-chain collaboration for a more inclusive and sustainable digital future
GeSI is pleased to welcome Orange as a new member, strengthening its global community of organisations working to align digital transformation with measurable environmental and social outcomes.
Orange is an international telecommunications group providing connectivity and digital services to individuals and businesses. Its membership brings direct operational experience from the telecommunications sector, together with insight into the environmental and social responsibilities that accompany growing demand for connectivity.
The digital sector has a dual responsibility. It must reduce the impacts associated with its own infrastructure and value chains. It must also help other sectors use digital technologies to improve efficiency, resilience and sustainability.
Progress on both fronts requires cooperation across the ecosystem, including suppliers, operators, customers, policymakers and partners.
Orange’s priorities align closely with GeSI’s work on decarbonisation, responsible value chains, sustainability reporting and digital inclusion. The company will also bring its perspective to discussions on biodiversity and on how digital solutions can support environmental action in other industries.
“At Orange we firmly believe that cooperation along the value chain is essential to achieve our common goal, namely bridging the digital divide while doing our part to maintain conditions of habitability on earth for living species. We are joining the GeSI to work with the entire industry, beyond our direct suppliers, to change our practices and reporting in order to be more efficient in the decarbonization of our industry, in the protection of biodiversity and to identify more concretely what digital technology can bring to other sectors to support them in their own efforts on these issues,” said Jean-Benoît Besset, EVP for Orange Group Environment and Energy Transition.
Through its membership, Orange joins a global network of digital companies, international organisations and cross-sector partners working to translate sustainability commitments into practical action.
Its perspective can help strengthen industry practices, improve reporting and expand the positive contribution of digital technology across the broader economy.
GeSI looks forward to working with Orange and the wider GeSI community to advance a more inclusive, low-carbon and resilient digital future.
