GeSI Meets with Portugal’s Minister of Environment and Energy

As part of GeSI’s ongoing engagement with national governments, Ricardo Rio, GeSI’s Head of EMEA and Strategic Partnerships, met with Portugal’s Minister of Environment and Energy, Maria da Graça Carvalho, on 22 September in Lisbon, to discuss opportunities for collaboration at the intersection of digitalisation and the climate transition.

The meeting explored several GeSI initiatives supporting climate action, including the European Green Digital Coalition (EGDC), which works to measure the climate-enabling potential of digital solutions, and the United Nations Solutions Hub (UNSH), which connects real-world sustainability needs with scalable solutions, technology providers and implementation partners.

The discussion also covered opportunities to develop pilot initiatives with cities, as well as preparations towards the upcoming COP and potential areas for future cooperation.

The meeting reflects GeSI’s continued commitment to working with governments, industry and international partners to translate digital innovation into practical solutions for climate action and sustainable development.
