Addressing critical challenges like operational control and emissions ownership, the report offers practical solutions for organizations striving to decarbonize amidst complex ICT value chains. Our comprehensive guidance builds on the Greenhouse Gas Protocol standards, addressing gaps and inconsistencies in the context of IT service and IT-as-a-Service models. By collaborating with key industry stakeholders, we have developed a first-of-its-kind series of carbon accounting guidelines tailored for the ICT sector, supporting efforts to quantify second and higher-order effects, often referred to as the enabling potential of ICT. This report aims to foster an expansive, industry-wide dialogue on the obligations and opportunities for ICT companies in their decarbonization journey.
