Announcing the launch of the Digital Education for Impact Alliance

We are delighted to share that the DEFIA was officially launched during COP30, marking an important step toward reimagining how education can accelerate climate solutions in a digital age. The alliance will be a new chapter for climate education.

Co-founded by GeSI, the University of Coimbra, and HHSTU, DEFIA was created with the intention of bringing together a global community of experts who participate in their personal capacities, united by a shared belief that to scale climate action, we must transform education, through digital innovation.

What DEFIA aims to achieve:

  • Thought Leadership: Establish GeSI as a leader in the digital education landscape, advocating for the urgent changes needed in how we teach and learn.
  • Global Collaboration: Build strategic linkages with organizations like UNESCO, OECD, SDSN, and other global leaders in education.
  • Actionable Roadmaps: Create a positive framework for transformative changes in education and develop actionable roadmaps for global collaboration.
  • Education Leader Programme: Empower members to lead digital education initiatives, from sustainable university coalitions to new curricula and micro-credentialing programs.

A heartfelt thank-you to the educators, partners, and innovators who helped bring this alliance to life. We look forward to working together to turn ideas into meaningful impact. We will be sharing more about this impactful project over the coming months
