The Human Rights and ICT – A Good Practice Guide

The Human Rights and ICT – A Good Practice Guide was developed by GeSI’s Human Rights Committee and IO Sustainability in 2017.

It provides ICT companies with a framework for adopting the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs). This guide outlines steps for conducting Human Rights Impact Assessments (HRIAs), navigating cultural differences in human rights policies, and implementing processes for remedying human rights impacts. Built from extensive member and expert input, the guide compiles industry best practices, interviews, and literature, including insights from the European Commission’s ICT Sector Guide on the UNGPs. The resource aims to help ICT companies integrate human rights protections consistently across global operations.
