Overview:
As sustainability requirements expand across global value chains, organisations need efficient ways to assess and improve supplier performance. GeSI has relaunched its Supplier Engagement and Assessment Tool called the Supplier Development Platform (SDP), a digital platform that enables scalable, consistent supply chain sustainability evaluations.
The initiative supports members in assessing their supplier networks while providing suppliers with the means to benchmark performance, identify improvement areas and track progress. The tool’s flexible framework aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals and can be adapted to focus on priority areas such as circular economy, emissions reduction or supply chain due diligence.
Objectives:
- ·Replace resource intensive audits with efficient digital assessments
- Provide suppliers with clear benchmarks and actionable improvement plans
- Enable progress tracking for both suppliers and their customers
- Support industry wide alignment on supply chain sustainability standards
· Offer flexible customisation to meet diverse sector needs
Our Work on Supplier Engagement
The tool has been successfully deployed by major telecommunications companies to assess thousands of suppliers globally. Several GeSI members have a version of the platform to process thousands of suppliers annually, tracking industry wide sustainability performance.
GeSI is now reviving the platform to support members in their supply chain sustainability efforts. The initiative explores multiple engagement models, from individual company implementations to collaborative industry approaches that reduce duplication and share best practices.
