GeSI Welcomes Ricardo Rio as Director for Strategic Partnerships

We are delighted to announce that Ricardo Rio has joined GeSI as our new Director for Strategic Partnerships, bringing extensive experience in city leadership, public administration, and international cooperation to GeSI’s global mission.

In his new role, Ricardo will lead GeSI’s engagement with city governments, public-sector institutions, and international networks, strengthening the bridge between digital innovation and the real sustainability challenges faced by urban systems. His work will focus on building strategic collaborations that accelerate the adoption of digital solutions for more resilient, inclusive, and future-ready cities.

Ricardo’s immediate priorities will include:

  • Advancing the work of the European Green Digital Coalition (EGDC) and supporting the expansion of its methodologies and city use cases;
  • Driving strategic engagement for the United Nations Solutions Hub, strengthening cooperation between cities, technology providers, and finance partners to accelerate implementation of digital-enabled climate and sustainability solutions.

By integrating these initiatives, Ricardo will play a pivotal role in aligning GeSI’s partnerships with its broader strategy of mobilising digital innovation for real-world impact.

We are thrilled to welcome Ricardo to the GeSI team and look forward to the leadership, vision, and energy he will bring as we continue to expand our global reach and advance digital transformation across regions.
