GeSI Welcomes Alibaba Group as a New Member

GeSI is pleased to welcome Alibaba Group as a new member, further strengthening its global, cross-sector community at the intersection of digital innovation and sustainable development. 

As a global technology company, Alibaba Group brings extensive experience across cloud computing, artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, e-commerce and logistics. Its membership adds practical insight, digital scale and international perspective to GeSI’s work in advancing solutions that can deliver measurable benefits for people, business and the planet. 

Alibaba Group joins GeSI at a time when digital infrastructure is becoming central to both economic competitiveness and climate action. As AI, cloud services and data-intensive applications continue to grow, the digital sector faces a shared challenge: how to expand capacity and innovation while improving energy efficiency, resource management and resilience. 

Within GeSI, Alibaba Group is expected to contribute particularly to three areas: sustainable data centres, AI for sustainability and green digital transformation. These priorities are closely aligned with GeSI’s mission to accelerate trusted, practical and scalable digital solutions that support climate action, resilience and long-term competitiveness. 

Through its membership, Alibaba Group will join a diverse network of ICT companies, international organisations and other stakeholders working together to shape more sustainable digital systems and strengthen implementation across sectors and regions.
