European Green Digital Coalition (EGDC) Enters Deployment Phase

We are thrilled to announce that the European Green Digital Coalition (EGDC) has entered an exciting new phase. Following the successful development of the Net Carbon Methodology (NCM) in Phase I, the EGDC is now moving into its deployment phase. This phase, led by GeSI in partnership with the Carbon Trust and PwC, aims to test and validate the NCM over the next two years.

The Significance of Phase II:

The deployment phase of the EGDC marks a crucial step forward in our mission to link the environmental and economic benefits of digital solutions for sustainability challenges. The NCM, developed to measure the environmental impact of digital solutions, particularly their ability to reduce emissions and have a net positive “carbon handprint,” will be applied to real-life case studies. This phase will demonstrate the net impact of digital solutions in reducing carbon emissions and establish the NCM as a global standard for measuring the carbon handprint of digital solutions.

Our Goals for Phase II:

  • Produce at least 50 case studies applying the NCM developed in EGDC Phase I.
  • Demonstrate the net impact of digital solutions in reducing carbon emissions.
  • Establish the NCM as the global standard for measuring avoided emissions, referred to as the “carbon handprint,” for digital solutions.
  • Simplify the NCM for broader applicability.
