EGDC Opening Welcome Webinar
We are thrilled to announce the deployment phase of the European Green Digital Coalition (EGDC)! In its first phase, the EGDC developed a Net Carbon Methodology (NCM) to measure the environmental impact of digital solutions — particularly their ability to reduce emissions and have a net positive “carbon handprint.” We have now begun work on phase II of the project.
Why does this matter?
This represents an important moment and leap forward in our ability to link environmental and economic benefits of digital solutions for sustainability challenges with a credible, quantifiable, and repeatable approach – our Net Impact Methodology.
GeSI is co-leading a consortium that includes the Carbon Trust and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), funded by the EU Commission, to deploy and test the efficacy of the methodology over the next two years.
During this period, we will:
- Produce at least 50 case studies applying the NCM developed in EGDC Phase I.
- Demonstrate the net impact of digital solutions in reducing carbon emissions.
- Establish the NCM as the global standard for measuring avoided emissions, referred to as the “carbon handprint,” for digital solutions.
- Simplify the NCM for broader applicability.
What does this mean for your organization?
You can showcase your digital solutions and document the positive environmental and economic impacts. You can use this as you engage with your business colleagues. You can use this in competitive bids. You can use this with your customers.
You can achieve these outcomes by participating.
We need you to nominate your digital solutions. These can be implemented or pre-implementation, from anywhere in the world. And we need you to learn and apply the Net Impact Methodology with us.
