This event will focus on strengthening the EU’s green upskilling movement to equip workers with the skills to empower the bloc’s transformation, and ultimately meet the Green Deal’s ambitious objectives during the EU’s Digital Decade.

A seamless transition towards a green economy requires an evolution of skills and capabilities. Digital solutions are crucial to advancing this agenda, as well as to prepare workers during times of continuous change. With over 240 million workers in the EU, the green economy cannot thrive without preparing for imminent disruptions.

Policymakers and businesses must work together to unlock the potential in enabling technologies and accelerate the development of a “Green Collar” Workforce, one that can deliver a net-zero economy.

The action-oriented policy dialogue will focus on the framework conditions, policy innovations, and digital solutions that can accelerate the greening of a global workforce, safeguard the estimated 71 million jobs that may be lost in the move towards circularity, and ultimately guarantee the future of our planet.

This one-day event will take place in two parts, at the European Parliament during the first half, and in an adjacent location for the second half.

We welcome policymakers, business leaders, environment experts, academics, civil society, and government officials to participate in this debate focusing on how digital technology and how they can enable the EU to address green upskilling and provide equitable opportunities for all.
