GeSI is currently seeking an experienced organizational leader, exceptional manager, and excellent communicator to serve as Chief Operating Officer (COO).  The COO position will oversee all programmatic areas (climate change, circular economy, supply chain management, digital trust and responsibility, among others) as well as programmatic events and communications. 

 

The successful candidate is a high-potential individual, able to quickly growth her/his diplomatic, networking and public speaking skills at the top level. 

 

In this role, the COO will lead the organization’s strategic and ongoing planning processes and the organization’s execution against its new strategic vision, operationalizing best practices in management systems, including appropriate integration and collaboration of teams and build functional areas, to ensure strong organizational performance to meet ambitious goals for the next five years. The COO will work closely with junior staff and senior consultants day-to-day. Reporting to the CEO, the COO will also serve as an integral member of the Executive and Leadership teams to support the GeSI Board. 

 

Profile

 

  • 10+ years of professional experience in a fast-paced and rapidly growing non-profit/industry association environment
    Demonstrated experience working collaboratively to lead the integration of a complex organization and utilizing best practices in management to ensure shared success
  • Significant experience developing and leading teams and working as an effective team member
  • Proven success leading a collaborative strategic planning process and ensuring its effective implementation
  • Strong staff management experience required, with the ability and interest to work closely with staff to set and achieve individual and team goals
  • Outstanding analytical and strategic thinking skills, with a focus on results and impact
  • Superior communication skills, both oral and written; ability to work effectively with people at all levels of the organization to create buy-in and a sense of team work
  • Strong initiative and motivation, with the ability to excel in a demanding and fast-paced environment
  • Experience with and/or knowledge of ICT/sustainability preferred but not required; ability to quickly understand and articulate GeSI’s work and mission 
  • Master’s degree required. MBA orLeadership training degree preferred   
     

This is a permanent role that will require a degree of flexibility due to a global membership, therefore some meetings/calls may be earlier or later than normal working hours (9h00-18h00). Some travel is to be expected (25%) for the role.
