E-TASC (Electronics - Tool for Accountable Supply Chains) is a web based system for Information and Communications Technology (ICT) companies to manage corporate responsibility throughout their supply chains in an efficient manner.
Launched by GeSI and the EICC at the end of 2007, it already has more than 300 subscribers.
E-TASC contains a tool to help members conduct an initial risk assessment of suppliers before proceeding to the more in-depth self-assessment. It is based on high-level information about the type of supplier, activity and country of operation.
For the more in-depth assessment suppliers fill in a single questionnaire on E-TASC, addressing ethics, labour rights, health and safety, and environmental aspects and can share their responses with multiple participating customers, rather than completing separate assessments from different companies. Information generated from self-assessments and a common audit process will be available in the E-TASC system, which will distribute the data to the subscribers while protecting the confidentiality of supplier relationships. In this way, suppliers and customers will be able to work with the information as they would any other business-to-business interaction.
The tool risk assessment model automatically provides a report identifying potential risk areas and best practice examples to help improve performance. The questionnaire is available on the tool in English and Chinese Mandarin, and is additionally available outside the tool in Spanish and Japanese.
