GeSI welcomes new member China Telecom
Brussels, Belgium, 6 November 2009 - Luis Neves, Chairman of the Global eSustainability Initiative (GeSI) and Huang Xiping, Senior Business Supervisor, Overseas Development Division, China Telecom, announced China Telecommunications Corporation (China Telecom) has become a member of GeSI, an international non-profit association of ICT companies and providers dedicated to
offering sustainable solutions.
China Telecom is one of the largest telecom operators in China, providing a wide range of telecom services to more than 240 million customers across the country. China Telecom also offers system integration services and technical advice. The company is an active member of GeSI’s Energy Efficiency Working Group which focuses on standardization issues for the ICT industry.
China Telecom’s decision to join GeSI is excellent news for the ICT industry. Luis Neves stated, “China Telecom can provide us with valuable insights for sustainable solutions that respond to the Asian environment and critical for global sustainable development.”
